Molly Ray of Molly Ray Parfums in Seattle

Seattle-based perfumer Molly Ray admits, “Perfume was the first love of my life and remains my constant adventure.”   She followed her heart to Grasse on the French Riviera, where she graduated from the Grasse Institute of Perfumery.  At her fragrance lab in downtown Seattle, Molly creates custom perfumes from essential oils sourced in the Pacific Northwest.    No matter the person, occasion, or travel destination, Molly can blend the perfect perfume that is synthetic free and organic.  She also opens her lab to small groups for workshops and events enabling attendees to create their own special perfume blend.  For example, if you’re a cocktail and perfume lover, she offers a Perfumer and Barman Workshop for exploring fragrance and cocktail design. In early 2021, Molly will have both a store and a lab in Pioneer Square in downtown Seattle.

Why is a perfumer an interviewee on Lines on Wines?  Molly challenges the cardinal wine tasting rule: “No perfume, please!!”  In fact, she has created an Eau de Vin Collection that includes Cremant, Blanc, and Rouge perfumes to go with sparkling, white and red wines.  Molly recognizes that perfume and wine are both intense aromatic experiences that can complement and enhance each other, the way food and wine do.  The olfactory, or fragrance, pyramid is similar in some ways to the wine aroma wheel, which both contain three tiers of fragrance notes.  If you want to learn more about these notes, what perfume is and how it’s made, how to pair wine and perfume, event opportunities in Molly’s lab, and much more…
